Bhopal: A National Anti-doping Agency (NADA) team on Saturday conducted a surprise raid at the Central Regional Centre of SAI in Bhopal, in the wake of a doping scandal that rocked the country a couple of weeks ago.
Talking to Zeenews.com, NADA director Rahul Bhatnagar confirmed that a 5-member team headed by administrative officer Manpal Singh has conducted a raid in the SAI, Bhopal in the morning today.
The team has interrogated 2 coaches and a doctor during the raid in Bhopal.
Earlier, NADA had conducted a surprise raid at the National Institute of Sports, Patiala last Saturday and took samples from the campers in the backdrop of the doping scandal in athletics.
A couple of days later they had conducted raids at Sports Authority of India’s centre in Bangalore and took urine samples from the campers for testing in the wake of the doping scandal that has rocked Indian athletics recently.
Adding fuel to fire, the NIS management retorted to unethical treatment of the people who tried to bring the truth to light. Dr Sajib Nandi, the ex SAI doctor who had blown the whistle on the prevalence of doping culture in NIS Patiala had been beaten up by the security guards outside the NIS office on Wednesday.
Dr Nandi was trying to enter the NIS premises in order to have a word with Justice Mudgal regarding the controversy that has seen a score of Indian athletes being banned or suspended after they returned positive results for banned substances.
It had been learnt that the security guards roughed-up Nandi on orders from the NIS management after he had exposed their wrongdoings.
